Responses to this Request for Statements of Interest will be used to identify potential investigators for a project to be funded by Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC)/Environmental Quality Technical Support Branch (CZTQ), which provides Natural/Cultural Resources Program Sikes Act Support in order to facilitate successful implementation of the 16 USC 670c-1 Sikes Act.

Developing Case Studies from Pre/Post Natural Disaster Monitoring of Natural Features

An evaluation of avoided losses attributed to natural features in both “indirect” and “direct” impact scenarios combined with a systematic approach to relating the avoidance of loss to Natural and Nature Based Features (NNBF) would help in broadening NNBF usage. Results would also inform future policy and actions related to marginalized communities living within high risk coastal regions.

Experience of People of African Descent During the American Revolution

throughout the IR-1.

Assess Condition of Faunal Communities at Newly Acquired Barrett’s Farm Unit, Minute Man National Historical Park

Minute Man National Historical Park needs to assess the condition of faunal communities (amphibians, birds, fish, reptiles) within the newly acquired 64-acre Barrett’s Farm Unit to support a Development Concept Plan and broader natural resource assessment for the site. Understanding of faunal community condition and habitat use within the Barrett’s Farm Unit will help identify the most sensitive species and habitats where new infrastructure and visitor impacts should be minimized.

Historic Resource Study addendum on African American History at FRST

The National Park Service (NPS), through the Interior Region 1, North Atlantic-Appalachian History and Preservation Assistance Office, requires the performance of research and writing of a Historic Resource Study (HRS) Addendum for First State National Historical Park (NHP) located in Delaware. The initial HRS was completed in 2019 and comprised of two major sections of historical overview: 1) History of the Brandywine Valley, and 2) Early settlement and development of the state of Delaware. This addendum project will address one of the primary research suggestions of the initial HRS – the addendum will expand the African American history context.

Response to this Request for Statements of Interest will be used to identify potential partners for a research project funded by the National Park Service (NPS). This project will be administered through a CESU only upon mutual agreement and official authorization by both parties of the acceptance of the application of the CESU Network IDC rate (17.5%). Approximately $184,476 is available to support this project ($120,120 in the 2022 Fiscal Year, and $64,356 in the 2023 Fiscal Year.)

Cape Cod National Seashore is announcing its Nickerson Fellowship through the NAC-CESU

The Nickerson Fellowship typically supports projects for students or young scientists. At least one fellowship is awarded each year to individuals whose work will contribute to our knowledge of natural and cultural resources within Cape Cod National Seashore, and of the relationships of these resources to the local communities in which they are found.
